STRIPE - Talking Points

This page serves as an aide in talking with providers about the benefits of utilizing the STRIPE credit card processing and e-statement system within Kareo.

It says the monthly cost is $13.99, I do not want to pay extra for this.

Response: as a Health Prime Client there are no monthly fees associated, these are waived for our customers. The only amount you will be charged is the blended rate per transaction and you will never receive a bill. This amount comes off the top of each transaction before it is deposited into your account.

I have my own credit card machine already being used in my office. I don't need your system.

Response: Stripe can be used in addition to your current system. If you do not have Stripe in place our team cannot take your CC payments over the phone and must re-route them back to your office staff which can cause interruptions in their workflow. They have to then stop handling patients face to face and answer a call taking your payments through your credit card machine.

Additionally, insurance credit card payments cannot be processed using Stripe. It is recommended that you have another merchant system if you regularly receive credit card payments from insurance companies.

Statements are not that expensive

Response: With the Stripe patient portal activated all you would need to do is collect patient email addresses. Your patients will receive electronic notification that they have a statement ready to view and can then log into your payment portal to view and pay their bills. This payment comes direct into your Kareo account under that patient AND goes directly into your bank account minus a minimal fee. Using the portal to deliver the notice that a statement is ready has a $0 fee vs. paper statements which have a fee associated with them.

I have elderly patients that don't want electronic statements in emails

Response: you can easily turn off email notifications within the patient's demographic information. Let me show you how:

  1. Simply either do not enter an email in the demographics
  2. or uncheck the box for email notifications.

Additionally, you can set the account to send both a paper statement and email notice concurrently

My patient cannot access the portal, how can I get them a login or reset the one they have?

**Reset a patient link by " re-inviting" them via the web application. This will send an email so they can reset their login info.

I am having issues with Stripe, can you help me?
